Amir-i Shikar

Amir-i Shikar
   The superintendent of the hunt. It was a position of some importance in the Delhi sultanate, where hunting was often conceived as a valuable exercise. Balban (later Sultan Ghiyas al-Din Balban, 1266-1286) as a slave noble was raised by Raziya Sultan (1236-1240) to the office of amir-i shikar.
